You Donโ€™t Need More Advice. You Need a Path to Development.

Many people already know what they โ€œshouldโ€ do differently. They know they need to set boundaries, speak up, stop overthinking, trust themselves, leave unhealthy patterns, or stop trying to manage everyone elseโ€™s emotions.

The difficulty is that insight alone doesnโ€™t always create change.

My approach helps you understand the adaptive persona you developed to manage yourself, protect yourself, gain approval, avoid conflict, maintain control, or stay emotionally safe. Then we identify the emotional capacities that need to develop so you can begin responding from your Authentic Self rather than from old conditioning.

This work brings together psychotherapy, personality, attachment, emotional development, neuropsychology, and practical behavioural change. It helps you understand why you continue to repeat patterns that no longer serve you and what needs to strengthen so a different way of living, relating, and leading becomes possible.

Step 1

Self-Awareness: Understand the Pattern

We begin by identifying the patterns shaping your current experience. These include adaptive (imposter, codependent) personas and relationship patterns that include symptoms such as self-doubt, perfectionism, overfunctioning, conflict avoidance, emotional withdrawal, difficulty setting boundaries, or challenges asserting what you need.

I use the Striving Styles Personality Systemยฎ or the Myers-Briggs Type Indicatorยฎ to deepen your understanding of your emotional needs, personality patterns, and natural ways of responding to life and relationships. This fast-tracks the self-awareness step.

Together, we explore:

  • The situations and relationships that trigger your reactions
  • The unconscious beliefs and rules influencing your choices
  • The adaptive persona behaviours that make change difficult
  • The ways these patterns affect your relationships, confidence and satisfaction

The goal is not to judge the pattern. It is to understand it well enough that you can begin to move beyond it.

Step 2

Identify What is Needs to Develop

Recognizing your patterns is important, but lasting change requires understanding what is beneath them.

In this stage of the work, we explore how early experiences, emotional needs, attachment patterns and personality have influenced the development of your adaptive persona. You may have learned to please, perform, rescue, control, withdraw, overachieve or avoid emotional risk as a way of regulating yourself or managing the emotions of others.

Together, we identify the capacities of your Authentic Self that were delayed, insufficiently supported or difficult for you to access. These may include the capacity to soothe yourself, express your needs, establish boundaries, tolerate conflict, trust your own perceptions, make choices based on your needs or allow greater intimacy in relationships.

Understanding what needs to develop shifts the focus from trying harder to change your behavior to building what makes change possible.

We work together to understand:

  • How your adaptive persona developed
  • Your primary and secondary adaptive personas
  • The emotional needs you learned to suppress, overmanage or seek indirectly
  • The relationship rules influencing how you give, receive, trust and connect
  • The developmental capacities that were delayed or insufficiently supported

This deeper understanding creates a foundation for genuine change. Instead of blaming yourself for behaviours that feel difficult to control, you begin to understand what they are protecting and what you now need to develop.

Step 3

Practice New Capacities and Behaviors

Change begins as you practice responding from your authentic self rather than automatically relying on the behaviors of your adaptive persona.

This stage of the work focuses on strengthening the capacities you need in real situations. You begin to practise new ways of expressing yourself, responding to others, making decisions, setting limits, managing emotions and taking action on your own behalf.

Behavioral change often brings resistance. Old patterns may feel familiar and automatic, even when they no longer serve you. You may feel guilt when setting a boundary, anxiety when speaking honestly, discomfort when no longer overfunctioning for others, or doubt when making a choice that is right for you.

Together, we work through that resistance so you can:

  • Practice authentic self capacities in everyday situations
  • Replace automatic protective reactions with conscious choices
  • Recognize and manage the emotions that arise as you change
  • Strengthen your ability to follow through on new behaviours
  • Build confidence through repeated experience of living differently

This is where insight becomes action and new capacities begin to take hold.

Step 4

Live More Fully From Your Authentic Self

As your capacities strengthen and your behaviours change, you become less governed by old rules, roles and protective reactions. You are increasingly able to live, relate and lead from a stronger sense of who you are and what you need.

This does not mean you never become triggered or fall back into familiar patterns. It means you are better able to recognize what is happening, return to yourself and make choices that reflect your development rather than your old conditioning.

Living more fully from your authentic self can support:

  • Healthier, more mutual relationships
  • Greater confidence and self-direction
  • Reduced codependent and perfectionistic behaviour
  • Stronger emotional resilience
  • More satisfying personal and professional choices
  • More authentic leadership and decision-making
  • A deeper connection to your own needs, values and potential

The aim of the work is not to become a different person. It is to develop the capacities that allow you to become more fully who you are meant to be. become more fully who you are meant to be.

What Makes This Work Different

You Donโ€™t Need More Advice. You Need a Path to Development.

Many approaches help people identify what they should do differently: set better boundaries, speak up, stop overthinking, leave unhealthy relationships, become more confident or stop trying to please everyone.

The difficulty is that people are often trying to make these changes without having developed the emotional capacities required to sustain them.

My approach brings together psychotherapy, personality, emotional development, attachment, neuropsychology and practical behavioural change. It helps you understand why you continue to repeat patterns that no longer serve you and what must develop for a different way of living to become possible.

This Developmental approach includes working with the 4 steps that take you from your persona to living and relating from your authentic self.

Understand the Why

We identify the emotional purpose behind behaviors that may otherwise appear irrational, frustrating, or self-defeating, and explore how your adaptive persona has shaped the way you live, relate, and respond.

Identify What Is Missing

We identify your developmental delay and the authentic self capacities needed to move beyond codependency, self-doubt, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, and other limiting patterns.

Practice Change in Real Life

We identify and strengthen the authentic self capacities needed to move beyond codependency, self-doubt, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, and other limiting patterns.

Live From Your Authentic Self

As new capacities and behaviors become stronger, you are better able to make choices based on who you are, what you need, and what supports your growth, rather than continuing to respond from old conditioning.
